Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK) is releasing earnings results soon. Ponder this Bear Case Scenario:
If as and when interest rates rise income investors will put pressure on Duke to increase dividend yield or they will flee the stock.
Duke has a very aggressive investment plan. Regulatory risks can be expected to become more vexatious.
The integration of Progress energy is still not anywhere near complete. Carolina consumers are expecting efficiencies and price savings. Very difficult to deliver. Hell to pay for politically if the consumer gets angry. Who does not get angry about their utility bills.
