JB Hunt Transport is about to release earnings. Ponder some Bear Case Scenarios.
Results are directly correlated to macro-economic activity is the US of A. If trucks are not moving and therefore profitable the economy is not doing well. The earnings results are an up front tell.
Driver shortages continue to be vexatious. Not sure why a high US unemployment rate does not create new drivers for trucking companies but there you go. Mexican drivers are available by the thousands and can easily solve the supply problem without killing your costs. Speaks volumes of social commentary.
Government is regulating hours on road for drivers which will decrease productivity as more drivers are forced to pull over and loads do not move. This just aggravates the driver shortage problem.
Much of JB Hunt performance is dependent on railways. They are ransom and hostage to third-party actions. Never a good situation.
