Retail pharma spending will grow rapidly in the near future. Demographic shifts drive pharmaceutical sales. Also as more people become insured they will spend on drugs.
CVS is a top tier PBS giving it enormous clout when negotiating prices and discounts. Economies of scale work very well.
As specialty drug use grows PBM’s will look to CVS to control costs. This will drive more customers into the stores who by the way will buy other retail products as well.
